CREAMLINE turned a highly anticipated match-up with erstwhile unbeaten Banko Perlas into a cakewalk, running away with a 26-24, 25-13, 25-21 victory in the Premier Volleyball League on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Alyssa Valdez led the way as the Cool Smashers won their fifth straight game after an opening loss while dealing Banko Perlas its first loss, creating a three-way logjam at the top with Ateneo-Motolite.
Valdez finished with 20 points while Jema Galanza added 15 markers and 14 excellent receptions in a match that took an hour and 17 minutes to finish, more than making up for the absence of Michele Gumabao.
“Even on our part din we didn’t expect that it would be this fast kasi kapag BanKo ang kalaban namin it would be a long game,” said Valdez.
“Maganda lang talaga ang gising namin, may luck din sa side namin na lahat gumana this game,” she added.
Kathy Bersola made 12 points for BanKo Perlas, which gave away 21 points to Creamline on errors.
Dzi Gervacio, who’s averaging 18 points per game, was limited to just five points -her lowest output in the conference for BanKo Perlas.
