A day after witnessing 10 of his colleagues join the PBA’s 50 Greatest club, Allan Caidic crossed over to the PVL along with 10,226 fans for Game Three of the 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference Finals between Petro Gazz and Creamline on Saturday.

‘The Triggerman’ accompanied his daughter to the historic Pasig City venue where he saw one huge change in the Philippine sporting landscape.

“I accompanied my daughter to watch this finals. Natutuwa naman ako na ang ganda ng support sa volleyball in general,” Caidic said.

“I used to watch it on TV, pero first time ko live dahil nga pinilit ako ng daughter ko manood ng live [at] gusto ko rin makita sila maglaro live.”

While basketball still stands as the Filipino household staple, Caidic was genuinely surprised to see volleyball’s meteoric ascent right before his eyes in his first-ever experience watching a PVL game live.

“It’s big. Talagang super ang support. Sana magtuloy-tuloy ‘yan. That’s good for volleyball competition. Ang ganda. I’m so impressed,” ‘The Triggerman’ remarked.

Caidic supports both Petro Gazz, Creamline

When it comes to the championship series, Caidic has ties with both the Angels and the Cool Smashers.

May it be his personal friends or La Salle coaching colleagues, the 61-year-old basketball icon is simply thrilled to see the sporting community — may it be in basketball or volleyball — tread progressive steps forward for the future of Philippine sports.

“Sa teams, kahit sino eh. Pero sa player, I admire si [Jonah] Sabete. Sa kabila naman, kaibigan ko sina Michele [Gumabao] at si Alyssa [Valdez]. Dito sa Petro Gazz kasi, marami tayong kakilala diyan,” said Caidic.

“‘Yung mga owner, halos lahat kakilala ko. Some of them played for La Salle. I used to be with La Salle a few years back so nakaka-associate namin sila before.”
