AIR Force bounced back from a tough loss and kept University of the Philippines winless, 29-27, 25-16, 25-22, in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Iari Yongco finished with 15 points for the Lady Jet Spikers, while Jocemer Tapic added 12, May Ann Pantino chipped in 11 and skipper Joy Cases had 10.

The veteran Air Force squad made good use of its experience to dispose the collegiate team.

“Meron sigurong factor ‘yun (pagka beterano) na may advantage kami doon,” said Air Force coach Jasper Jimenez. “Kasi ‘yang mga bata (UP), kapag nabigyan mo ng tyansa ‘yan, aarangkada ‘yan.”

The Lady Jet Spikers gained momentum after they came back from a 26-27 deficit in the opening set.

“Buti nakuha namin ang first set, kung nakuha nila ‘yun, magtutuloy-tuloy ‘yun,” said Jimenez. “Buti na-stop namin, malaking bagay sa amin yung first set na ‘yun.”

Coming from a four-set defeat to Creamline, the Lady Jet Spikers improved to 2-1 with the victory over the Lady Maroons.

Yongco led the way for Air Force to take an 18-15 advantage in the third set before Molde tied the contest, 18-18.

Tapic pushed Air Force back on top, 20-18, but Molde did not give up to keep UP within striking distance, 21-23. The Lady Jet Spikers, though, held on to foil the Lady Maroons' bid to extend the match.

Air Force imposed its might at the net with 10 blocks compared to UP’s three.
