AIR Force fired from all sides of the court to defeat Vice Co., 27-25, 17-25, 25-19, 25-21, in Game One of the best-of-three semifinals of the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
The Jet Spikers unloaded more attacks (69-47) and scored more service aces (4-0) to move a step closer back to the finals.
Bryan Bagunas made 30 points and registered 16 excellent receptions for Air Force, skipper Jeffrey Malabanan added 18, Fauzi Ismail had 14 and Ranran Abdilla chipped in 12 in the match that took an hour and 38 minutes to finish.
Game Two is on Wednesday.
Comfortably ahead, 18-13, in the fourth set, Air Force nearly squandered the lead when Vice Co. cruised to a 7-2 run to tie the contest, 20-20.
The Jet Spikers stepped on the gas and countered with a 5-1 spurt to end the match.
John Paul Bugaoan finished with 17 points for Vice Co., while Jude Garcia had 10.
Meanwhile, Vice Co. team owner Vice Ganda watched the game live for the first time but the TV/movie actor declined for an interview after the match.
