AIKO Urdas said she and the National University Lady Bulldogs simply refused to lose in the final stretch of a thrilling Game One battle against the Ateneo Lady Eagles on Monday night.
Urdas scored three of the last four points for NU in the five-set showdown, capping her heroics with the through-the-block spike that sealed the 25-21, 19-25, 23-25, 25-18, 18-16 win for the Lady Bulldogs
"Naisip ko lang paluin at paluin yung bola, kailangan namin manalo," Urdas said after the dramatic win that moved the Lady Bulldogs within a win of wrapping up the Shakey's V-League Season 13 Collegiate Conference title.
The Lady Bulldogs fell behind by five points a number of times in the final set before Urdas teamed up with Jaja Santiago to lead the team back from the grave.
Santiago finished with 31 points and got the needed support from Urdas, who finished with 18 points in Game One.
"Medyo natataranta na kami nung nalamangan kami, hindi na namin alam yung gagawin namin. Nagkagulo kami sa loob, walang communication," she said.
But unlike in the past, the Lady Bulldogs, Urdas said, regained their composure - a sign of maturity for a team that is in the thick of preparations for the UAAP season.
"Parang ang laki ng pinagbago namin kasi parang may puso (sa laro)," she added.
