ADAMSON salvaged third place as it turned back University of Santo Tomas, 25-15, 25-17, 25-22, on Sunday, in the V-League Season 11 First Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
The Lady Falcons, who had zoomed to the top in the early stage of the eliminations before fading towards the playoffs, ended the tournament with the bronze medal by sweeping the best-of-three series.
The San Marcelino-based Lady Falcons won Game One, 25-17, 25-23, 18-25, 25-19, last week.
Thai reinforcement Pacharee Sangmuang poured in 14 points for the Lady Falcons, while Bhebs Pineda, guest player Pau Soriano and Amanda Villanueva added 11 markers apiece.
“Ang sarap as feeling kasi tinapos namin 'yung tournament na panalo kami,” said Villanueva.
Adamson scored a sort of revenge after losing to UST in last year's battle for third, but Villanueva said it was far from their minds.
“Hindi naman namin inisip ’yun, ang inisip lang namin ’yung laro ngayon. Hindi rin namin expected na three sets lang kasi ’yung UST parang kami lang din ’yan eh, lalaban at lalaban ’yan,” she added.
The Lady Falcons took advantage of the Tigresses’ poor reception as they registered 10 service aces compared to just four of UST.
Chloe Cortez finished with 13 points for the España-based Tigresses, who ended the tournament on a five-game losing streak.
