ADAMSON University overpowered University of the Philippines, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21, on Saturday to extend the best-of-three semifinals series of the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Coming off a four-set loss in Game One, AdU rallied behind veteran Eli Soyud, who had 14 points, to extend the series.
The third match is set on Sunday.
“I think that loss (Game One) did more for us than we thought it ever could,” said Adamson coach Air Padda. “Last game was a huge wake up call for us, we have a very big opportunity at our first championship as a team together, first championship under me.”
“It was do-or-die today, kill or be killed and I knew that. I painted my nails (red) because I want blood in my hands, that’s how bad we need this,” she added.
Padda was pleased to see setter MJ Igao, who registered 16 excellent sets, step up to the challenge and do better than UP counterpart Marianne Sotomil, who had nine excellent sets.
“MJ having a lot of confidence, we just told her positive lang and to just laban,” she said.
Isa Molde and Roselyn Rosier each had eight points for UP, while Marian Buitre, who had 25 points in their previous match, was limited to just seven markers.
