ADAMSON University made quick work of the Davao selection, 25-15, 25-23, 25-15, on Thursday to remain on track for the semifinals of the V-League First Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
Bhebs Pineda and Thai reinforcement Pacharee Sangmuang delivered 14 and 13 points, respectively, as the Lady Falcons improved their quarterfinal mark to 1-1 and moved into second place behind early quarterfinalist UST (2-0).
The Lady Agilas, meanwhile, slipped to joint third with Ateneo at 1-2.
The Lady Falcons need to win over UST on Thursday to clinch a semifinal berth and avoid complications. A loss will put Adamson in a tie with Davao and Ateneo, to be broken using a quotient system.
“Sabi ko lang (sa players) pag natalo tayo dito wala na tayong pag-asa (sa semis), mandadamay pa tayo,” said Adamson coach Sherwin Meneses. “Kasi pag natalo kami dito (against Davao), dalawa kami ng Ateneo na malalaglag.”
“Pero ’yung determination naman ng mga players maganda. Pinaghandaan namin sa Davao ’yung gana sa laro. Pag 'di mo sila pinaghandaan, tatalunin ka nila talaga," he added, referring to the energetic Lady Agilas.
Lady Agilas team captain Venus Flores, May Agton, Angel Antipuesto and Jocemer Tapic were limited to only eight points apiece for the Lady Agilas.
