ADAMSON University made short work of NCAA champion University of Perpetual Help, 25-15, 25-21, 25-12, to extend its unbeaten run to four games on Sunday in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the Arena in San Juan.
It only took 52 minutes for the Falcons to dispatch the Altas and take the solo league lead with an unblemished 4-0 win-loss record.
Adamson skipper Paolo Pablico led the way with 16 points off nine attacks, four blocks and three service aces, while also registering six digs, while Leo Miranda chipped in 10 hits.
Setter Leonard Amburgo providing all of his team’s 19 excellent sets on top of four markers.
Falcons assistant coach Mike Sudaria said that the bragging rights of a UAAP versus NCAA match was their motivation.
“Pride na lang talaga pinaglalabanan dito sa UAAP at NCAA. So siyempre parang ayun, malaking panalo ito sa amin,” said Sudaria, a former Adamson player.
“Champion nga sila and kami, UAAP naman kami. ‘Yun ang pagbabasehan dun. ‘Di kami papatalo.”
The Falcons dominated the Altas in all departments, with a 36-26 disparity in attacks, 11-5 differential in blocks and 7-1 advantage in service.
Nobody scored in double figures for Perpetual Help, which committed 21 errors, with Joebert Almodiel and Ridzuhan Muhali scoring seven points apiece.
The Falcons try to extend their winning run when they face Far Eastern University (1-2) on Wednesday at 9 a.m., while the Altas, who dropped to eighth spot with a 1-3 card, seek to recover against College of St. Benilde (1-1) at 6 p.m.
