ADAMSON could be without top hitter Eli Soyud for the rest of the first round of the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference after the Lady Falcons top hitter underwent surgery to repair a torn cartilage in her left knee.
Soyud was on the sidelines as the Lady Falcons were swept by the Tacloban Fighting Warays on Sunday at the Arena in San Juan City.
The best opposite spiker in the previous conference underwent meniscus repair last Wednesday and will be sidelined six to eight weeks.
“Actually last season pa. Medyo parang hindi na kinakaya so inagapan na. Nag-surgery na talaga,” Soyud said. “Six to eight weeks pa daw sabi ng PT (physical therapist) ko. Siguro mga second round pa ako makakabalik.”
Soyud agreed to undergo surgery after seeking a second opinion.
“‘Yung nag-decide is yung doctor kasi nagpa-second opinion na rin kami kung ano ba talaga ang mas okay. ‘Yun nga ang sabi i-surgery kasi baka hindi umabot ng UAAP kapag therapy lang,” she said. “Mas lumalala lang nito. Tinapos ko lang yung Collegiate Conference para makapahinga para mas makabalik for UAAP.”
As much as she wanted to help the Lady Falcons, Soyud knows her decision to sit out will be more beneficial in the long run.
“Siguro for me ang hirap panoorin kasi nasa labas ako. Hindi pa siguro sila nakakapag-adjust at naninibago pa sa mga ipinapasok ni coach Air (Padda),” she said.
“Kailangan lang nilang maging confident sa bawat isa. ‘Yun lang naman ang nakikita kong kulang sa kanila,” Soyud said. Lance Agcaoili
