The Angels are one win away from matching their best-ever preliminary round campaign back in their first title-winning conference in 2019.
Still to come in the Angels’ prelims campaign are two of the current bottom three sides in Galeries Tower and Nxled — both on lengthy skids with just one win each.
Capital1’s win drought rises to six straight games as it drops to a lowly 1-9 card.
Heather Guino-o paced another troubling loss for the Solar Spikers with eight points and five digs.
Winning tradition of their own
When it comes to PVL powerhouses, Creamline might be on top of everyone's lists yet Petro Gazz takes pride in having a winning culture of of its own.
Being one of just three teams to have ever defeated the Cool Smashers in a championship series, team captain Remy Palma is proud to still uphold the Angels' winning tradition now that they find themselves in a strong position atop the team standings.
She wasn't part of Petro Gazz yet during their maiden title run in 2019, but once she joined the team, Palma understood straight away why they were able to build a successful team culture from the get-go.
"Going back to 2019, I was not part of the team yet. I was on a different club team pa pero, when I arrived in Petro Gazz, nandoon na talaga 'yung winning culture ng team. So, it runs naman doon sa napakita nila on the previous years," said Palma.
"Nu'ng dumating kami, nandun din naman talaga 'yung eagerness na ipagpatuloy and also, 'yung maintain and also improve 'yung winning tradition. Hindi naman din siya like ibibigay sayo. Hindi naman lagi inaabot 'yung panalo.
"Nasa sa amin pa rin talaga kung paano namin siya (tatrabahuin)."
