CANDON CITY — It feels like the first time all over again for Myla Pablo when it comes to playing the game she’s always loved.
She had to wait for seven months before her first Petro Gazz start back in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference where she had 11 points in a 25-18, 25-21, 25-18 sweep of Choco Mucho.
It would take another three months, 109 days to be exact, before earning another breakout start where she also had 11 points in a 25-21, 25-17, 25-19 sweep of Farm Fresh.
History has repeated itself to say the least for Pablo. But this time, she’s not keen on waiting any longer before getting a good run of form in.
Not Easy
The two-time PVL MVP had a candid reflection on how her starting role in lieu of Jonah Sabete’s left calf strain was an overwhelming one.
And her limited minutes since returning to Petro Gazz didn’t make things easier.
“Medyo naninibago pa ako. Ang tagal ko ring ‘di naglaro and ang tagal ko ring
‘di babad sa court. Naninibago rin ‘yung pag-iisip ko [dahil nga] mga two conferences rin akong ‘di naglaro and ‘di first six,” said Pablo.
“[Iba] ‘yung pagod ng mga rally kasi in that two conferences talaga hindi ako ganung ka-babad kaya this time talaga, [nilubos ko] ‘yung time ko na babad this game.”
Above all, a feeling she’s missed a lot is the love of volleyball fans who have long watched her soar in the college ranks and the pros through the years.
The Tarlac native was left in awe of the cheers and applause she received from Ilocano fans — one she hopes she wouldn’t wait months for to feel all over again.
“Na-miss ko ‘yung ganung tawag [at cheers ng fans] kasi sabi ko nga sa inyo, two conferences akong hindi gaano naglaro or ‘di nababad.
As Pablo puts it, “Na-feel ko ‘yung sarili ko kanina na parang na-miss ko ‘yung ganun sigaw na ‘Myla Pablo!’ Sabi ko na pagkakataon ko na ‘to na maglaro kaya ibibigay ko ‘yung best ko.”
