POCARI Sweat cruised to its third straight win after pounding Creamline, 15-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-19, in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
Elaine Kasilag and Myla Pablo combined for 24 points and found a new scoring partner in Cai Nepomuceno, who contributed 12 markers.
The defending champions suffered two consecutive losses at the start of the season but immediately got back on their feet to improve to 3-2 - tied with Power Smashers for the No. 2 spot.
“Sabi ko kasi, let's play at our own pace kasi nagdi-dictate ng pace ang Creamline (sa first set),” said Pocari Sweat coach Rommel Abella.
“Sabi ko let's play at our own pace, kung saan tayo comfortable, doon tayo maglaro. At least medyo nakinig (ang players) and nakabawi kami ng second set,” he added.
The Lady Warriors ended the first round of the elimination with a win while dealing the Alyssa Valdez-led Cool Smashers their second straight defeat from a 1-1 start.
“Big boost ito sa morale namin as a team kasi coming from two defeats sa start ng tournament, ang ganda ng bawi namin, tatlong sunod,” said Abella. “Ngayon pa lang namin nakikita na nabubuo ang team namin.”
Pocari Sweat got an added boost from Jeanette Panaga with nine points and Jessey de Leon, who came off the bench and delivered eight markers.
Valdez carried Creamline on her shoulders with 25 points, from 20 hits and five aces, while Coleen Bravo and Pau Soriano chipped in 11 markers apiece.
