PSL-F2 Logistics Manila settled for eighth place, bowing to Bangkok Glass, 16-25, 23-25, 20-25, on Sunday in the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Ashley Frazier scored 12 points, while Thidarat Phengvechai added11 for Bangkok Glass, which dealt PSL F2 its fifth loss in as many matches.
PSL-F2 Logistics Manila briefly showed promise, leading by three, 4-1, on the third before Bangkok Glass romped to a 6-4 advantage.
Mika Reyes scored on a block that made it 20-23 but Pleumjit Thinkaow pushed Bangkok Glass at match point and Phengvechai sealed the win.
Jaja Santiago scored 11 points for the home squad, Lindsay Stalzer added eight, Stephanie Niemer chipped in seven and Lynda Morales and Yevgeniya Nyukhalova contributed six apiece.
“Dumikit ’yung score namin and every point sobrang nagse-celebrate kami kasi ’yun ’yung sabi sa amin ni coach na ’yun ang makakapagpataas ng morale ng team ’yung pagcelebrate naming ng team and napakita din naming noong third set na dumukit kami kahit locals lang ang ginamit,” said PSL-F2 Logistics Manila skipper Rachel Anne Daquis.
Bangkok Glass team captain Thinkaow said playing against the home team was much more difficult than the scoreline suggests.
“It’s very difficult for us to play against the Philippines because they have a good heart and good fighting spirit and they have a lot of fans to support them and it added a little pressure today,” said Thinkaow.
