SANDUGO-San Sebastian completed a sweep of Ateneo and advanced to the finals of the Shakey’s V-League Open Conference on Friday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The Lady Stags dumped the Lady Eagles in three easy sets for the second straight time, 25-9, 25-14, 25-19, to win their best-of-three semifinal series, 2-0.
Now, the league’s top-seeded team awaits its opponent in the Finals, also a best-of-three affair. The other championship berth is being disputed by Philippine Army and Cagayan Valley-Perpetual Help.
Jeng Bualee unloaded 22 points to lead the Lady Stags while team captain Suzanne Roces and Angela Benting finished with nine apiece in a match that took just 59 minutes to finish.
“Expected naman namin,” said Sandugo coach Roger Gorayeb. “Relax lang yung laro namin, sinamantala na namin na kulang sila sa tao. At least di kami hirap na hirap.”
Ateneo again played with only seven players as it missed key spikers Fille Cainglet, Allysa Valdez, Ella de Jesus, and libero Denden Lazaro because of school exams.
Dzi Gervacio made eight points for the Katipunan-based team.
