    Pocari Sweat begins title defense against Power Smashers

    DEFENDING champion Pocari Sweat faces Power Smashers to start its campaign in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on April 30 at The Arena in San Juan.

    Focus will be on imports Edina Selimovic from Bosnia and Michelle Strizak from the US and new recruits Fille Cainglet-Cayetano and Jessey de Leon for the Lady Warriors, who are now without Michele Gumabao.

    Former College of St. Benilde star Jeanette Panaga has also been tapped to join holdovers Myla Pablo, Elaine Kasilag Mel Gohing, Deseree Dadang and veteran setter Gyzel Sy.

    Lady Warriors battle the Power Smashers at 4 p.m.

    “We’ll do our best kasi solid na rin na team ’yan and legendary na coach na rin si coach Nes (Pamilar) kaya magpeprepare kami,” said Pocari Sweat coach Rommel Abella.

    Pamilar will lean on Arellano University top hitter Jovie Prado and Thai imports Amporn Hyapha and Kannika Thipachot.

    “Pipilitin lang namin kung anong makakaya namin syempre defending champion yan eh,” he said.

    Meanwhile, Alyssa Valdez and new team Creamline face the Perlas Spikers at 6 p.m.

    Valdez will be joined by Coleen Bravo, Jamela Suyat and Kuttika Kaewpin.

    BaliPure and Air Force tangle at 2 p.m.
