DEFENDING champion Pocari Sweat survived Banko-Perlas, 25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 27-25, in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Myla Pablo finished with 23 points, all but one from spikes, for the Lady Warriors, while Cai Nepomuceno added 14 markers. Jeanette Panaga scored 13 and Elaine Kasilag chipped in 11 markers.

“Medyo nara-rattle ‘yung depensa namin, nag-focus sila sa opensa nila, hindi nila ini-expect na puro drop ball, drop ball ang ginagawa ng kabila kaya nahirapan kami na mag-adjust," said Pocari Sweat coach Rico De Guzman.

The Lady Warriors scored their second straight win after a four-setter win over University of the Philippines.

Pocari Sweat led by as much as five points, 18-13, in the fourth set before Banko-Perlas threatened to extend the match in cutting the gap to two, 24-22.

Pablo delivered the goods for the Lady Warriors, while Desiree Dadang pushed them at match point, 26-25, and an attack error by Ella de Jesus sealed the win for Pocari Sweat.
