THE Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) is set to take another key step in its stewardship of Philippine volleyball, calling for a general assembly of stakeholders on Monday as part of the FIVB roadmap for the suspended Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF).
In a notice dated July 17, POC secretary-general Atty. Wharton Chan called on designated representatives from all volleyball clubs to attend the assembly, with the notice emphasizing that attendance is mandatory. Members of each club's board of trustees have likewise been directed to be present.

The meeting forms part of the POC's responsibilities after the FIVB suspended the PNVF over governance issues and alleged violations of its Code of Ethics.
The international federation subsequently designated the POC as caretaker of Philippine volleyball while an FIVB-appointed Ad Hoc Committee oversees the implementation of reforms required for the PNVF's reinstatement.
Aside from taking charge of the country's volleyball affairs, the POC has also assumed oversight of the Alas Pilipinas national teams during the federation's suspension.
The FIVB set an eight-point roadmap for the PNVF seeking sweeping governance reforms, including the creation of an Athletes' Commission with representation on the federation's board, amendments to the PNVF's by-laws, the establishment of independent ethics and judicial bodies, and the alignment of the domestic season with the FIVB calendar from 2027 onwards.
The roadmap likewise requires the PNVF to hold a Special Congress to elect a new Board of Administration, strengthen its financial oversight and governance mechanisms, and expand grassroots development under the supervision of the Ad Hoc Committee.
