STA. ROSA — The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) broke its silence amid growing noise around the Alas Pilipinas draft and player welfare issues, issuing a statement that acknowledged concerns without diving into specifics.
With incumbent PNVF president Tony Boy Liao as its voice, the federation assured that the qualms raised from mainstream social media - particularly those tied to the draft process and the broader treatment of athletes - did not fall on deaf ears.

"As the sport’s governing body, we remain committed to building a sustainable, inclusive, and athlete-centered path forward. We value the voices of our players, stakeholders, and fans, and assure that we are listening," the PNVF wrote on Tuesday evening.
The statement comes at a time when questions have been raised about how players in the national team program have been managed and supported, with stakeholders from different fronts calling for more transparency and structure.

The federation, though, stopped short of addressing issues raised in recent days, ranging from alleged mistreatement during the 33rd Southeast Asian Games to former Alas head coach Jorge Souza de Brito's claims of alleged unpaid performance bonuses.
No specific plan of action just yet
With this message, the PNVF has first opted for broader reassurance, not just yet outlining immediate policy adjustments regarding the Alas draft mechanics, which has been a first and foremost point of scrutiny.
In all, however, the PNVF struck a conciliatory tone, inviting “continued dialogue and collaboration,” as it aims to ensure that national team players are “not only competitive on the world stage, but are also supported, heard, and valued every step of the way.”
