THE Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) is moving to fast-track a resolution to its legal dispute with Jorge Souza de Brito.

The former Alas Pilipinas head coach lodged a formal complaint before the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) last Monday, citing unpaid bonuses and salary as well as a refund of alleged illegal deductions, as confirmed by his counsel Atty. Rex Enrico Cruz III to SPIN.ph.

PNVF secretary-general Otie Camangian said the federation is currently verifying the financial obligations raised by de Brito.

“‘Yung pamunuan ng PNVF, inaayos na ‘yung obligasyon ng PNVF kay coach Jorge. Marami po kaming inaayos ngayon, internal and external, kasama na rin ‘yung obligasyon ng PNVF kay coach Jorge,” Camangian said on Power and Play on Saturday.

“The legal counsel of the PNVF is verifying the contract, precisely because we are just 105 days as of today, ‘yung bagong pamunuan ng PNVF. Dapat maayos, yes.”

PNVF promise

Despite earlier indications from Tony Boy Liao pointing to the previous administration under Ramon 'Tats' Suzara, Camangian stressed that the federation will honor its obligations.

“Hindi po tatalikuran ng PNVF kung anuman ‘yung obligasyon na nararapat sa ating foreign coach, precisely because ‘yun naman talaga ang dapat. The PNVF board agreed before that after the legal deliberation of our legal counsel, ibibigay naman ‘yung dapat na ibigay kay coach Jorge,” he said.

Camangian added that the PNVF is working toward a prompt settlement, heeding the call of Philippine Sports Comission (PSC) Chair Patrick Gregorio to resolve the issue swiftly and avoid negative publicity that could affect the country’s ability to attract foreign coaches.
