PLDT MyDSL booked the last Finals ticket in the men’s division of the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix when it downed Maybank, 25-17, 25-15, 27-25, at the Ynares Sports Arena Wednesday night.
The win had the Speed Boosters arranging a title showdown with System on Dec. 14.
Kheeno Franco came up with 16 points for PLDT MyDSL, while Henry Pecaña scattered 10, including the last three match points which he capped with a game winning service ace.
“Hindi lang ako nag-concentrate sa anim (na starters) nag-ikot ikot ako ng tao. Maganda lang ang nilaro ng team,” said PLDT MyDSL coach Francis Vicente.
Down by three, 20-23, in the third set, the Speed Boosters rallied and tied the game on a Pecaña hit, while Mohd Ali Hamzah Bin and Alejandro Mallari committed two crucial errors.
Hamzah Ali and Pecaña later exchanged spikes, but it was Pecana who had the last laugh as he scored on a service ace right on the face of Hansel Go to clinch the win.
Hamzah Ali had 12 points for Maybank, while Mallari added 10.
The Tigers are still winless in four games and will now meet Giligan's in the classification match set on Wednesday at the same venue.
