THE Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) has laid down additional guidelines for the proposed Alas Pilipinas draft, emphasizing commitment, availability, and uniform compensation for players selected to the national team.
PNVF president Tony Boy Liao bared that players drafted to Alas will be required to honor their national team duties, with participation deemed non-negotiable.

According to Liao, drafted players cannot decline a call-up, and entertaining overseas offers after being selected will not be allowed.
"The drafted players from the pool can't reject to play for the Alas national team," Liao told SPIN.ph.
The federation is also finalizing the compensation structure for the national team pool, with Liao revealing that all drafted players will receive the same salary regardless of role or experience.
The exact amount, however, remains under discussion.
Liao also clarified that Alas may see action in future stagings of the PVL Invitational Conference if the league was to extend an invite and also depending on schedule availability.
While the Alas draft remains in the proposal stage, Liao said momentum is building behind the concept.
According to Liao, a majority of teams have expressed that they are 'agreeable' to the idea, as discussions with league stakeholders continue.
"It's a proposal but most of the teams are agreeable with it. I doubt that the teams will disagree with the proposal because it's for the good of the Alas national team and the clubs," he added.
First iteration of Alas draft proposal
Under the current proposal, Alas head coach Tai Bundit will get first crack at the 2026 PVL Draft pool.
Liao revealed that Bundit will be allowed to select as many players as needed for the national team before the league’s 10 clubs proceed with regular drafting process.
Those chosen for the national team will no longer be available for selection by PVL squads.
Alas draftees will then be tied to exclusive two-year contracts, when they will participate in regular training sessions whenever there are no international competitions on the calendar.
At the end of the two-year term, players who are not offered extensions or opt to leave the program will not be allowed to sign directly with PVL clubs. Instead, they must re-enter the PVL Draft in 2028 to join the pros.
