BINAN, Laguna — Korea continued its fine play, dealing the Philippines its second straight loss, 25-23, 25-18, 25-12, on Sunday in the 19th AVC Asian Senior Women's Volleyball Championship at Alonte Sports Arena.

Yang Hyo Jin showed the way with 13 points as the Koreans claimed a share of the top spot in Pool E with Kazakhstan in the quarterfinals classification.

Team captain Kim Yeon Koung had 12 points, while Kim Her Jin added 11 in a match that took an hour and 31 minutes to finish inside a jam-packed arena.

Counting its win over Vietnam in the prelims, Korea now holds a 2-0 win-loss record. Kazakhstan, which downed the Philippines in pool play, defeated Vietnam in four sets early on Sunday.

Jaja Santiago topscored for the Philippines with 10 points, all from attacks, while Alyssa Valdez and Jovelyn Gonzaga each had seven markers.

The Pinay Spikers, which entered the quarterfinals classification with a 0-1 card counting the loss to Kazakhstan, now has a 0-2 card, tied with Vietnam.
