THE Philippine women's volleyball team absorbed a heavy beating from Southeast Asian powerhouse Thailand, winning only one of the five sets they played, 12-25, 19-25, 12-25, 21-25, 15-9, in the tune up match on Tuesday at Ramkhamhaeng University in Bangkok, Thailand.
Coming off a five-setter loss to the Thailand U-23 team on Monday, the Pinays got back on their feet to face perennial SEA Games champion Thailand led by Pleumjit Thinkaow and Wilavan Apinyapong.
Despite the tough loss, the Philippine team had a glimpse of what to expect for the Southeast Asian Grand Prix from September 20 to 22 in Nakhon Ratchasima and the SEA Games from November 30 to December 10 in Manila.

Aby Maraño, Kalei Mau, Alohi Robins-Hardy, Ces Molina, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Majoy Baron, Mylene Paat, Roselyn Doria, Kath Arado and Dawn Macandili were given extended minutes during the tune up match.
The Philippine team will again face the Thailand U-23 team on Thursday. On Friday, the Pinay spikers take on Toray Arrows, the Japanese club team where Dindin Santiago played in the Japan V. Premier League.
Meanwhile, Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Eya Laure, Maddie Madayag are expected to arrive in Thailand on Sunday.
