THE Philippine women’s volleyball team is going to see action in two pocket tournaments in the Philippines before the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
Larong Volleyball Sa Pilipinas Inc. secretary General Ariel Paredes bared that the country will host the second leg of Southeast Asian Grand Prix from November 4-6 at the Sta. Rosa Gym in Laguna, while Philippine Superliga launched its Super Cup as part of the national team build-up.
“It will be a good chance for our team para ma-gauge yung mga kalaban nila sa SEA Games,” said Paredes, also PSL’s finance manager, in the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum on Tuesday at the Amelie Hotel Manila.

The Filipina Spikers are currently in Thailand for their training camp before the Southeast Asian Grand Prix kicks off from Friday to Sunday in Nakhon Ratchasima, where they battle region rivals Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.
Indonesia has already begged off for the second leg but Paredes said that PSL-selection team will join the inaugural tournament as the second Philippine team.
The national pool, bannered by Aby Marano, Kalei Mau, Alohi Robins-Hardy, Alyssa Valdez and Jia Morado, will also see action in the PSL Super Cup against University of Tsukuba from Japan and two PSL selection teams from November 5, 7 and 9.
The composition of the two PSL All-Star squads will be formed through the outstanding players in the Invitational Conference and the fans can also vote for the members of the teams that will test the nationals and Japanese squad.
