THE national under-23 women’s volleyball team bowed out of contention in the 2019 Thailand Open Sealect Tuna Volleyball Championships as it got beaten by Thai club 3BB Nakornnont, 20-25, 12-25, 15-25, on Saturday.

Following a three-set rout at the hands of Okayama Seagulls last Friday night, the Filipina spikers put up a gallant stand in the first set before the Thais took control of the crucial parts of the game to assure their spot in the semifinals with the Japanese club.

Merely the top members of the U-23 pool didn’t last long in Thailand’s pocket tournament as they got eliminated in Group B.

That ends the Tuna Sealect campaign of team captain Celine Domingo and UAAP girls’ MVP Angel Canino, who led the national squad composed of collegiate role players and high school spikers.
