PHILIPPINE Army guns for a third straight win and a share of the lead as it takes on National University in the Shakey's V-League Season 11 Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Thursday.
The Lady Troopers are hoping to catch up with league leader PLDT Home Telpad on top as they eye a third straight win in their 2 p.m. encounter with the Lady Bulldogs.
PLDT currently sports a 3-0 record, a game ahead of Army at 2-0.
NU meanwhile has a 1-0 card.
Army is again expected to rely on former MVPs Rachel Anne Daquis, Ging Balse, and Jovelyn Gonzaga, along with Nene Bautista and veteran setter Tina Salak, all of whom played big in the Lady Troopers’ 25-20, 23-25, 25-16, 25-23 victory over Philippine Air Force on Sunday.
But the Lady Bulldogs aren’t no pushover especially with the presence of 6-foot-4 star Jaja Santiago, who dropped 21 points in the team’s win over University of the Philippines, 18-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23.
Myla Pablo, Jorelle Singh, Desiree Dadang, and Rizza Mandapat will provide added boost for the Lady Bulldogs.
Meanwhile, Air Force aims for a back-to-back victory as it collides with crowd favorite Ateneo in the main game at 4p.m.
The Air Women headed by Maika Ortiz, Judy Ann Caballejo, Jocemer Tapic, and Jen Manzano are currently at third spot with a 2-1 card.
Air Force is coming off a straight-set romp of UP last Tuesday.
The Alyssa Valdez-led Lady Eagles hope to get back on the win column after they fell to PLDT, 21-25, 13-25, 24-26, on Sunday.
Ateneo holds an even record 1-1.
