PETRON recovered from a sluggish start to finally bag its first win at the expense of RC Cola, 20-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-5, in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City on Sunday.
Japanese import Shinako Tanaka and Angeline Gervacio took control in the third and fourth sets, delivering 15 points apiece for the Blaze Spikers.
Petron, which arranged a sudden-death match against Cignal on Wednesday, now holds a 4-1 win-loss card.
The survivor between the Blaze Spikers and the HD Spikers will then face top-seeded PLDT-MyDSL, which swept its way to the top spot in the semifinals.
On the other hand, RC Cola, which finished the five-game elimination round without a win, will battle Cagayan Valley in the other quarterfinal pairing.
