UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help held off Emilio Aguinaldo College in a non-bearing match, 15-25, 25-17, 25-21, 20-25, 15-9, on Thursday to complete a sweep of the semifinals of the NCAA women's volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Held to a 9-all standoff in the final set, the defending champions Lady Atlas rattled off the game's final six points punctuated by a Sandra delos Santos service ace to frustrate EAC and head to the finals on a winning note.
"Nawalan kami ng init sa loob ng court, kasi alam namin na no-bearing na yung game kaya umabot ng five sets," said delos Santos, who led SSC with 20 points on 17 spikes and three service aces.
Perpetual, which finished the semifinals with a 3-0 (win-loss) record, is the favorite to repeat as champion when it takes on fierce rival San Sebastian in the finals.
The Lady Stags clinched the other finals seat with a 25-15, 25-27, 28-26, 25-22 victory over Arellano in the day's other match.
Honey Royse Tubino backed up delos Santos with 15 points from 12 hits and three blocks.
Charmille Belleza came with 19 markers while Arriana May Angustia and Arnie Yumul chipped in 12 points apiece for EAC, which failed to win a single game in the semis.
