UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help aims to move closer to a second straight title when it takes on a San Sebastian squad that’s looking for a payback in Game One of the NCAA women’s volleyball Finals at The Arena in San Juan on Saturday.
After a three-game sweep of the single-round semifinals, the defending champion Lady Altas hope to continue their run and gain a headstart of the best-of-three title series when they face the SSC spikers at 4 p.m.
Drawing first blood is easier said than done for the Las Piñas-based tossers, though, as they face a San Sebastian team that’s definitely looking for vengeance against their finals tormentors two years ago.
It was the Lady Altas who snapped the SSC spikers’ six-year title run in 2011.
With super rookie Gretchel Soltones expected to come up with another explosive performance, the Recto-based squad will definitely put up a fight.
