UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help trounced University of San Carlos, 25-14, 25-19, 25-19, to clinch a berth in the quarterfinals of the Shakey's V-League Season 10 First Conference.
April Sartin and Honey Tubino led the Lady Altas with 11 points each in the team’s first win in three outings in Group B.
The Lady Altas now join top seed National University (4-0), Arellano (2-1), and Adamson (2-2) in the quarterfinals.
“It helped that they started out well (in today's game) since they struggle to have a shaky start (in the conference),” said UPH assistant coach Sandy Rieta on the team’s first two losses.
The victory by the reigning NCAA back-to-back champions formally shut the playoffs door for the Cebu-based spikers, who ended their campaign without a win in three matches.
Suzette Panis came away with 12 points, while Methosheena Bate contributed 11 for USC.
