UNIVERSITY of Perpetual Help made short work of Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 25-15, 25-19, 25-19, to take Game One of their best-of-three Finals series and inched a win away from completing a historic ‘five-peat’ in the NCAA Season 94 juniors’ volleyball tournament on Friday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Noel Kampton led the charge for the Junior Altas with a game-high 16 points, all coming from attacks. Hero Austria was also instrumental with 14 hits off 12 kills and a pair of service aces including 11 excellent receptions and eight digs in the straight-sets win.
Kirth Patrick Rosos chipped in nine points, while Kharyll Parce and Sherwin Caritativo added eight markers each.
The Junior Altas will try to complete their five-straight championship and sweep the Squires in Game 2 on Friday next week.
After sweeping the nine-game elimination and had a three-week lay-off, Perpetual Help showed no signs of rust dominating Letran in each sets and won in just 64 minutes.
The Junior Altas were dominant in attacking with 45 kills outmuscling the Squires, who only had 27 spikes, to draw the first blood of their best-of-three series.
Christian Dela Cruz did everything for Letran with 12 points including 18 excellent receptions and five digs, while having an ample help from Mark Omega’s 11 hits only for the Squires to fall on the brink of losing the title series.
