DEFENDING champion University of Perpetual Help and Arellano go for back-to-back wins as they collide in the single round semifinals of the 88th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan Monday.
The Lady Altas, who escaped a tough San Sebastian side last Friday, 25-19, 24-26, 25-23,26-24,will again lean on veteran Honey Royse Tubino, reigning league MVP Sandra delos Santos, April Sartin, and Norie Jane Diaz in the 6 p.m. encounter.
On the other hand, Arellano hopes to duplicate its win over Emilio Aguinaldo, 14-25, 25-12, 25-20, 25-16, in a game that saw the Lady Chiefs came back after losing the first set.
Menchie Tubiera, Danna Henson, Angelica Legacion, and setter Mary Jane Diane Ticar are again expected to banner Arellano.
The winner between the Lady Altas and Lady Chiefs moves closer of bagging a berth in the best-of-three Finals.
Meanwhile, the Lady Stags battle the Lady Generals in the first game at 4 p.m. without setter Bamcie Belen, who’s out for the rest of the season due to an ACL injury.
But San Sebastian gets the needed boost from super rookie Gretchel Soltones and alternate playmaker Trisha Crisostomo who fills in the spot left by Belen.
One major concern for the Lady Generals is how to limits their turnovers after giving away 42 points in a losing cause against Arellano.
