UNIVERSITY of Sto. Tomas overcame a slow start to beat University of the East, 25-21, 25-15, 25-23, in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.
Pam Lastimosa and Christine Francisco, who were fielded in the second and third sets, led the way for UST with 10 points apiece.
UST, which scored on 46 attack points, improved its win-loss record to 5-3 win-loss card, joining National University in third spot.
The Tigresses trailed early, 6-12, before UST came up with an 11-3 run to snatch the lead, 17-15.
UST found it rhythm in the second set, 19-8, all the way to register its fourth straight win.
“First set … siguro right place at the right time lang ang UE,” said Reyes.
Lastimosa and Francisco took charge in the second set before starters Sisi Rondina and EJ Laure were fielded back in the third set.
Shaya Adorador had 13 points for UE.
The Lady Warriors, coming off a win over bottom team Adamson, suffered its seventh loss in eight matches.
