COACH Jerry Yee was impressed with Olena Lymareva-Flink’s dedication to her job as the Ukrainian import went on to train upon arrival from Ukraine, two days before her first match with Petro Gazz.
The Angels got a big boost, defeating Iriga-Navy for their second straight win after three consecutive losses in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on Saturday.
Lymareva-Flink, tapped to replace the injured Kadi Kullerkann, had 16 points and 14 digs as Petro Gazz improved to 2-3.
“Ang sipag niya, alam ko may nine-hour layover sa flight tapos may 13 hours nakaupo lang siya. Pagdating niya ayaw niyang magpahinga lang siya gusto niya raw agad ma feel bola,” said Yee.
The veteran mentor also shared that Lymareva-Flink had a hard time on her first day in the Philippines due to the hot weather but she was quick to adjust.
“Nashock nga siya kasi napakainit para sa kanya dito,” said Yee. “That was her first practice, first problem naka Hydrite agad, sa second practice noong Friday she felt a little bit better na.”
Petro Gazz faces defending champion Pocari Sweat-Air Force on Wednesday.
