SKIDDING National University hopes to return to the winning column when it faces University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

From a 3-0 start, the Lady Bulldogs suffered back-to-back losses, fallting to defending champion La Salle in a straight sets and Far Eastern University in four sets.

But even NU coach Roger Gorayeb is at a loss on how to get the Lady Bulldogs back in deadly form.

“Ang hirap nilang buhayin. Kapag ang player ayaw nang lumaro ang hirap nang palaruin, mahirap talaga,” said Gorayeb, who hopes his aggressiveness off the court finally translates to more assertive play from his wards.

The Lady Bulldogs also allowed the Lady Tamaraws to score nine points from the service line, while they only had one in the entire match that took almost two hours to finish.

Meanwhile, UST coach Kungfu Reyes wants his team to improve in their communication and defense on Santiago.

Tigresses middle blockers Ria Meneses and Chloe Cortez had to double their efforts to match their 6-foot-5 counterpart.

“It’s all about timing and position pero syempre hindi namin magagawa ‘yan kung wala kaming communication,” he said.

UST (2-3) is looking to book its first back-to-back win of the season after a straight set win over listless Adamson University.
