FRESH from its surprising lopsided win over defending champion Ateneo last Sunday, National University returns to action Tuesday when it takes on La Salle-Dasmariñas for a spot in the semifinal round of the 10th Shakey's V-League at The Arena in San Juan.
Leading Group A with a 2-0 (win-loss) slate, the Lady Bulldogs are again pinning their hopes on Myla Pablo and Aiko Urdas, who delivered the goods in their 25-15, 25-12, 26-24 beating of the Lady Eagles, as they seek to secure the first Final Four seat.
"Mataas ang morale ng mga bata," said NU coach Edjet Mabbayad after they trounced the Lady Eagles, the two-time reigning champion. "Malaking tulong para sa mga susunod na laban kasi `yung kumpyansa nila mataas."
"Sana tuluy-tuloy lang (ang panalo)," he added. "Di kami titigil mag-ensayo. Kailangan namin pag-butihin at di kami pwede mag-relax."
The Lady Patriots, however, are expected to play the spoiler's role as they fight for survival in the tournament.
The 4 p.m. clash is a must-win for La Salle-Dasmariñas as a loss would automatically eliminate the Cavite-based squad (0-1) in the race for a semis berth.
In Group B action, University of Perpetual Help collides with San Sebastian College at 2 p.m. in another battle of survival for the Lady Altas.
The NCAA back-to-back champions lost their first game of the competition and now need to win against the Lady Stags to remain in semis contention.
San Sebastian had already been eliminated following the win of University of Santo Tomas over Adamson (2-1) last Sunday. The Tigresses have been unbeaten in two games in the quarterfinals.
If both La Salle-Dasmariñas and Perpetual lose, NU will complete the Final Four cast together with Ateneo (2-1), UST (2-0), and Adamson (2-1).
