THE Best Server of the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 First Conference going scoreless from the service line?
The unthinkable did happen to Most Valuable Player (MVP) Dindin Santiago during Game One of the Finals between defending champion National University and Far Eastern University.
Santiago admitted being dismayed by her performance in the Lady Bulldogs’ 24-26, 24-26, 22-25 setback to the Lady Tamaraws last Sunday, where she was held to just 13 points and none from the service line.
“Nakakadismaya kasi best server ako tapos ang dami kong errors sa service,” said Santiago.
But the 6-foot-2 NU team captain has vowed to bounce back in Game Two on Sunday and force a winner-take-all match in the Lady Bulldogs’ bid to keep their V-League crown.
“Game One time nila (FEU) 'yun, kami naman, babawi kami sa Game Two. All out ang focus. May pagasa pa kami (mag-champion),” said Santiago.
In the meamtime, the 21-year-old spiker will have to divert her attention from the title series as she will make her debut in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL) with Petron on Wednesday.
Santiago was the top overall pick in the first-ever PSL rookie draft and is expected to take the lead for the revamped Blaze Spikers as they take on powerhouse PLDT in their opening game.
“Time management lang 'yan,” she said. “Noong una mahirap pero ngayon naman naka-adjust na at konting pahinga lang 'yan.”
