NATIONAL University ended a five-match skid, defeating also-ran University of the East, 26-24, 26-24, 25-20, on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan to secure at least a playoff for a spot in the semis of the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament.
Skipper Jaja Santiago scored 22 points as the Lady Bulldogs scored their first win in the second round, improving to 7-6.
NU remains in fourth spot behind semifinalists Far Eastern University (8-4), Ateneo (9-4) and La Salle (9-2).

“May kulang pa, pero nakita ko talaga, ang ganda ng laro namin. Kung ano 'yung na-training namin kahapon, lumabas talaga,” said Santiago.
Risa Sato had 13 points, while Jasmin Nabor registered 41 of NU’s 44 excellent sets in the one-hour and 29-minute match.
“Masarap sa feeling kasi kahit papaano naka-bangon na po kami,” setter Jasmin Nabor agreed.
