NATIONAL University ace Alyssa Solomon will lead the quartet of Filipina aces set to throw their names in the mix in the 2024-25 Korean V-League (KOVO) Asian Quota Draft.

Joining the two-time UAAP best opposite spiker are former UAAP champion Maddie Madayag, PLDT middle blocker Majoy Baron and Choco Mucho setter Mars Alba.

Solomon previously confirmed that the Lady Bulldogs’ ongoing Season 87 title defense will be her last in the college ranks.

The rumor mill of the reigning UAAP finals MVP taking her talents overseas has already spun, with Korea already in her sights.

Madayag, who is currently with Japan SV.League cellar-dweller Kurobe Aqua Fairies, is eyeing a move to what could be her second overseas stop in another Asian volleyball powerhouse nation.

Meanwhile, La Salle’s former champion duo in Alba and Baron are in the midst of their respective preparations for the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference playoffs as their respective teams PLDT and Choco Mucho will lock horns in the best-of-three quarterfinals.

KOVO aspirations nothing new for PVL stars

PVL stars are no strangers to the KOVO Draft in recent years, with the likes of Creamline’s Tots Carlos, Chery Tiggo’s Mylene Paat and Petro Gazz’ MJ Phillips trying their luck in Korea’s top flight league.

Only Phillips, a two-time PVL best middle blocker, made the cut two years ago when she was drafted fifth overall by the Gwangju Al Peppers.

Capital1 playmaker Iris Tolenada found her way to the Korean league without going through the draft as a free agent signing by GS Caltex Seoul Kixx five months before her former PVL club F2 Logistics’ disbandment.

The Filipino quartet will soon learn their fates in the virtual draft ceremony on Apr. 11.

Unlike in recent years, there won't be a three-day tryout in Korea anymore as the 45 women's draft applicants will automatically be drawn for selection for the league's seven teams.
