NATIONAL University completed a nine-game tournament sweep to win the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
MVP Jaja Santiago led the Lady Bulldogs to a finals sweep with a 25-22, 25-19, 19-25, 25-16 victory over Far Eastern University in Game Two of the best-of-three title series on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
Santiago had a game-high 22 points for NU, while Jorelle Singh added 11 and Aiko Urdas made 10, including the championship-clinching cross court kill.
Finals MVP Jasmine Nabor, who registered all of the team’s 45 excellent sets, orchestrated NU’s 55 total attack points in a match that took an hour and 45 minutes to finish.
Meanwhile, Urdas, second best middle blocker Risa Sato and Singh filled in for libero Gayle Valdez, who was only fielded in the second set due to a sore left foot.
Urdas and Sato each had 15 and 14 digs, while Singh had 10 excellent receptions.
The Lady Bulldogs scored more attacks (55-35) and service aces (12-10) but both team’s blocking was unchampionship like, NU had one from Urdas, while FEU had nothing.
FEU played without top hitter Bernadeth Pons, who lost earlier Saturday in the finals to UST in UAAP Season 80 beach volleyball.
Jeanette Villarreal and Czarina Carandang each had 10 points for FEU.
