NATIONAL University coach Babes Castillo believes that San Sebastian College’s loss in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference had nothing to do with the absence of his counterpart Roger Gorayeb.

NU bested SSC, 25-21, 21-25, 25-11, 25-18, for a share of the lead with Far Eastern University in Group A on Monday at The Arena in San Juan.

For Castillo, with our without Gorayeb, it was up to the players to perform.

“I don’t think there’s any connection (on NU’s loss and Gorayeb’s absence). Of course we would like to think about it but if you think deeply, objectively, beach volleyball nga walang coach eh,” he said.

“I think coaching is an understatement, you’re 90 percent teacher so you coach only one day, you teach six days,” he added.

Although the Lady Bulldogs won the attacking (42-26) and blocking (8-1) departments, Castillo was not satisfied with their performance.

It was supposed to be the first meeting between former and current NU coaches but Gorayeb missed the match due to emergency reasons.

SSC dropped to 1-2 at the fourth spot.
