VACATION can wait for Far Eastern University as coach George Pascua will only allow his players to reflect during the Holy Week break.
The Lady Tamaraws are given three days of rest from Friday to Sunday before they return to training on Monday for the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament.
Currently at the No. 3 spot with a 7-4 win-loss record, behind La Salle (9-2) and Ateneo (8-3), Pascua does not want his team to have any room for complacency.
“Hindi ka pwedeng magrelax kasi every game is important eh, hindi pwede magpabaya. So ang number one na gagawin namin is discipline muna, wala muna magbabakasyon,” he said.
“Pero pwede magnilay-nilay. Sa Friday uuwi naman sila kasi syempre kailangan nila ng food from God, syempre kasi ang mga blessings na binibigay sa atin kasama sa sakripisyo ‘yun then balik by Monday,” he added.
After the break, FEU will be up against Adamson University on April 7, followed by its match against University of the East on April 11 and National University on April 15.
Despite the short break, Pascua is confident that his wards will still be in shape when they get back, however, there’s one thing that worries the veteran coach.
“‘Yung mind setting (ang worry ko) lang kasi ‘yun ang hindi ko kayang hawakan, ‘yung decision making ng player,” he admitted.
“Once na nag-iba ‘yung mindset niya, nawala sa game plan, ‘yun ang pinaka mahirap as a coach kasi ‘di mo na kontrolado ‘yun eh kasi decision na nila ‘yun,” he added.
