ORGANIZERS of the Shakey’s V-League hope to work out a deal with their television partner regarding the live airing of playoff matches in the first conference of its 10th season.
Games in the preliminaries will be shown on AKTV-13 on a delayed basis, but Ricky Palou, president of the organizing Sports Vision Management Group Inc., said they will sit down with their television partner about the possibility of airing the games live during the playoffs.
“We’ll talk about the possibility of the semifinals and the finals being shown live. Then, we will see what happens,” said Palou.
“Right now, we are unable to televise the games live for the reason being the airtime (of AKTV) is not really available,” Palou explained.
In previous seasons, league games were shown live via online streaming then aired on a later date on television.
But following the live coverage of the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament which set record television ratings, there has been a strong clamor among volleyball fans for the Shakey’s V-League games to also be shown live.
Palou said that they are still negotiating with AKTV about the time slot for the airing of the elimination round games which will start on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.
