SAN Sebastian College defeated Mapua University, 25-23, 25-15, 14-25, 25-23, on Friday to gain a share of the lead in the NCAA Season 94 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Nikka Dalisay scored 17 built on 14 attacks as San Sebastian joined San Beda University and back-to-back defending champion Arellano University on top at 2-0.
Ashtara Sarmiento chipped in 11 markers for San Sebastian.
Angeline Magundayao scored nine points for Mapua, winless in two matches.
College of St. Benilde defeated Letran, 25-19, 25-23, 25-22, for its first win.
Klarisa Abriam scored 15 points, while Rachel Austero had 10 markers as the Lady Blazers improved to 1-1.
Kathleen dela Cruz tallied 10 points for Letran, which also holds a 1-1 record.
In the men’s division, Mapua escaped SSC, 19-25, 25-21, 25-20, 24-26, 17-15.
Team captain Alfredo Pagulong had 21 points, 15 digs and 21 excellent receptions for Mapua in the nearly two-hour match.
Angelbert Nuvas scored 21 and Raje Hizon added 16 for Mapua.
Robbie Pamittan scored 22 points, Nathalian Bansuan had 21 markers and skipper Julius Lana made 13 for SSC.
