Finals MVP Ysay Marasigan set to play on after collegiate career, looks to bring game to commercial leagues
Ysay Marasigan shines brightest as Ateneo sweeps National U. Jerome Ascano

YSAY Marasigan capped off his collegiate volleyball career in style by leading the Ateneo Blue Eagles to the UAAP Season 78 men’s volleyball crown and winning the Finals Most Valuable Player.

Marasigan topscored for the Blue Eagles with 12 points as his team took a straight-sets victory over National University, 25-16, 25-20, 25-19, on Wednesday to complete a sweep of the UAAP finals series.

Now the King Eagle is ewager to bring his game to the commercial leagues.

“I think gusto ko pa maglaro habang ganito pa ’yung linalaro ko. Hindi ko sasayangin. After that, saka ako magpe-prepare kung ano gagawin ko," said Marasigan.

Marasigan hopes his fine performance would inspire the young Eagles to do well in trying to extend Ateneo's reign.

“Special ito kasi nung dumating si coach sa team, ako agad ang team captain. This year, kung ano man ’yung ibig sabihin ng team captain, ’yun ang gusto kong ipakita para ’yung iiwan ko sa kanila, gayahin nila,” said Marasigan.

Ateneo coach Oliver Almadro said Marasigan has received offers from several teams in the commercial ranks.

"Ysay is very determined and a disciplined person. Whatever the decision he makes, he will give his 1000 percent," said Almadro.
