CAPITALIZING on its homecourt advantage, University of Santo Tomas hurdled semifinal matches in both the girls and boys division of the UAAP Season 79 high school volleyball tournament on Thursday, setting up final showdowns with National University.

The Junior Tigresses bucked a third set loss to bundle out De La Salle-Zobel, 25-19, 25-22, 24-26, 25-18, in the girls step-ladder while the Tiger Cubs made quick work of University of the East, 25-17, 25-15, 25-20, in the boys' Final Four.

UST hopes to foil the Bullpups bid for a second straight championship double when the best-of-three series in the girls and boys division begins next week.

Eya Laure atoned for the errors she committed late in the third set that gave the Junior Lady Spikers a lifeline by taking charge in the fourth frame  before a big, yellow-clad crowd at the UST Quadricentenial Pavilion Arena led by alums Alyssa Valdez and EJ Laure.

UST hopes to end NU's two-year reign of the Bullpups, who jumped straight to the finals after a perfect 12-0 elimination round campaign.

The Tiger Cubs were not far behind, unleashing their power game to eliminate the Junior Warriors.

NU became the first team to advance in the title round after defeating Far Eastern University-Diliman in the other Final Four pairing Tuesday at the NU gym.
