Sisi Rondina hanging on to semis hopes as Tigresses make late season charge

UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas’ end of season charge may have come a little too late, but with still a faint chance of making the semifinals, Sisi Rondina isn’t giving up just yet.

The Tigresses notched their first back-to-back wins of the season, defeating University of the Philippines and National University both in four sets, but are still a few notches below the semifinal spots in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.

“Wala naman panghihinayang kasi meron kaming quote na ‘everything happens for a reason’ so ayun, ito siguro yung tiyaga namin, yung mga inaantay namin,” said Rondina.

The Tigresses improved to 4-7, still in sixth spot with a slim chance of catching up. La Salle leads with a 10-2 win-loss record followed by Ateneo at 9-3, Far Eastern University at 7-4, National University at 6-5 and Adamson at 5-6.

UST will have a long break, returning to action on April 4 against Ateneo, April 8 versus La Salle and April 14 against Adamson.

Rondina says the back-to-back wins will be a big boost for them as they try to sweep their remaining matches.
