NU, UST dispatch separate foes to open Spikers Turf campaigns on winning note

UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas and National University beat separate rivals to open the Spikers Turf Season 2 Collegiate Conference with a win on Monday at the Philsports Arena.

Arnold Bautista had 14 points as the Growling Tigers swept National College of Business and the Arts, 25-18, 25-20, 25-13, while Bryan Bagunas scored 12 to lead the Bulldogs to a 25-23, 25-23, 25-22 win over Far Eastern University.

The Tigers occupy first spot with University of the Philippines for the lead in Group B with a 1-0 record, while the Bulldogs joined La Salle for first place in Group A.

On Wednesday at the Philsports Arena, Perpetual Help faces PMMS at 10 a.m., while Ateneo battles San Beda at 12 p.m.
