UP Lady Maroons back on track, boost Final Four bid with romp over Adamson

UNIVERSITY of the Philippines got back on the winning track, beating also-ran Adamson University, 25-15, 25-16, 25-20, UAAP Season 79 women's volleyball tournament on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Isa Molde scored 15, Kathy Bersola added 12 and Diana Carlos contributed 11 for UP.

The Lady Maroons, coming off a loss to defending champion La Salle Lady Archers, improved to 6-5 to boost its Final Four bid.

UP assistant coach Rald Ricafort said that they’re not yet looking too far ahead, with still three elimination-round matches to play.

“Hindi namin iniisip eh, hindi naman sa in a bad way, pero may mind set sila na hindi naman sa walang pake,” said UP assistant coach Rald Ricafort. 

“Pero hindi nila mina-mind ’yung ibang pwedeng mangyari maliban sa mga game na ilalaro namin. So ’yun muna talaga, one game at a time,” he added.

UP scored 42 on attacks against 21 by Adamson. The Lady Maroons also had 10 service aces, while the Lady Falcons had only three.

Jema Galanza scored 10 points for Adamson, which remained winless in 11 matches.
